Fabian Deuser

About Me

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich and the TUM. My research started with image retrieval for geo-localization, but has since shifted to more general approaches to sampling in deep learning. I am particularly interested in contrastive learning and the dynamics of sampling, and how they affect learning efficiency, generalization, and convergence speed. I also investigate how insights from multimodal learning and image synthesis can contribute to these challenges.

• [Feb. 2025] Our paper about the temporal variance which can affect cross-view geo-localization is accepted for the GeoCV Workshop at the WACV 2025. This paper also won the Best Paper Award of the Workshop!
• [Jan. 2025] We published our work about the application of cross-view geo-localization for disaster recognition and localization in the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
• [Dez. 2024] Our paper about the joint optimization of intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters for neural radiance fields is accepted to the CVIU Journal.
• [Nov. 2024] Our paper about multimodal contextualization of trajectory data is accepted to the Datenbank-Spektrum Journal.
• [Aug. 2024] Our second paper about cross-view geo-localisation for drones is accepted to the ACM MM 24 UAVM Workshop. We won first place in the corresponding competition again!
• [Jun. 2024] Our investigation of emotional mimicry intensity estimation is accepted to the CVPR 2024 Affective Behavior Analysis in-the-wild (ABAW) workshop. We also won second place in the corresponding competition.
• [Aug. 2023] Our paper about cross-view geo-localisation for drones is accepted to the ACM MM 23 UAVM Workshop. We also won first place in the corresponding competition.
• [Mar. 2023] Our paper investigating hard negative sampling for cross-view matching is accepted to the ICCV 2023.
